Soft Ball Fudge ( 1944 recipe)

Soft ball fudge
(The House Hold Searchlight pg 72. ~ 1944)

Ingredients :
2 cups of sugar
2 tablespoons of Butter
2 square of unsweetened Chocolate or 6 tablespoons of coco
1 teaspoon of vanilla flavoring
2/3 cup of milk
A few grains of salt.

Directions:
Combine sugar, milk, butter, salt and chocolate or coco.
Cover until boiling point is reached.
Boil to soft ball stage ( 234 degrees F to 238 degrees F)
Add flavoring and cool without stirring to room temperature
Beat until mixture is creamy, thick and will hold its shape when dropped from a teaspoon.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper or poor into well buttered shallow pan.
Cut into squares




Joanna's note:
Make sure not leave the fudge in the pan too long otherwise it will be a sticky mess to get out.
Also, you can stir the vanilla in. And, it taste better than it looks. This is my first batch a fudge and I am very proud of it!
